Restoring Union Beach Memories

I magine how it would feel if you were never able to see your wedding portrait or your child’s baby photos again. That, sadly, is the very predicament that many victims of Hurricane Sandy are currently dealing with.

However, there are efforts underway to recover and restore lost family photos in Union Beach, New Jersey. Hurricane Sandy hit the beach town hard, but local resident Jeannette VanHouten began collecting lost photos once the storm passed. Her selfless act is warming the hearts of countless individuals, who are able to reclaim photo memories.

Now, with only one regular volunteer (Mary Danielsen, a fellow [tooltip text=”Association of Personal Historians”]APH[/tooltip] member), VanHouten is struggling to buy supplies to continue this very important project. That is where you can help! Please donate what you can spare for this worthy cause.

Paperclipped Memories proudly contributed $100 to the project.

  1. Thank you for your contribution. We have now 15 binders at the recover center. Another 10 waiting to be rotated into the center. With your assistance of people like you, are able to print photos once restored. And have digital photo frames for the seniors that are now in assisted living since the storm.
